my mystic atheism
Interdependence:
The universe is one and whole, yet made of many parts.
Those parts connect in endless combinations through time and space.
All the particles that make up a human being have been parts of other things: plants, animals, rocks, comets, stars.
And will be again.
Life:
Life has naturally evolved to seek out more fuel and reproduce, which other astral bodies cannot do. Life resists entropy.
Life is the part of the universe trying not to die.
In my view, that’s our highest purpose: sustaining Life, and thus the universe, itself.
Humanity has evolved the ability to affect the ecosystem of Earth as well as leave the planet.
We must accept our responsibility to steward Earthlife, both here and out among the stars.
Reminders:
Humans repeatedly forget our interconnectedness, causing Earthlife great harm through greed and hatred.
Art and spiritual practices across religions help remind us of our connectedness to the greater wholeness.
The technique of “civil disobedience” or “nonviolent resistance” challenges harm without causing more of it.
